(Staff Photo by Sam Ferguson) Chauvinistic PR Man Women’s Libber Students Plan To Resign From Committees Students serving on institutional commit tees are considering resigning unless they receive full voting rights, according to Ken Wright, president of SGA. Wright was quick to note that this was a last resort, and that student committee mem bers will first go to their respective com mittees and ask for full voting rights. "If full voting rights are not grant ed we will then decide on a course of ac tion," Wright said. "But, resignation is a possibility." Presently students have full voting rights on seven in stitutional commit tees. There are no students on the degree progress committee, and students may vote only on matters of policy in three other committees. Those com mittees are: the hon ors committee, admis sions committee and the scholarships and student aid committee. Institutional com mittees are usually composed of two or more students and five or six faculty mem bers. The following is a listing of the committees which have student membership and their members: —Admissions Com mittee- Tony Gole and Zollie Stevenson —Atheletics Commit tee- Bob Pyler and Audrey Byrd —Educational Inno vation and Better Turn to Page Four Defeats Last Friday, on a beautiful sunny af ternoon, UNC-A's an swer to Bobby Riggs, Pete Gilpin, repre senting the forces of male chauvinism, en gaged student and wo men's libber, Jane Frye, in a tennis match. Unlike, the recent match in the Houston Astrodome, where Mrs. Billy Jean King hand ily defeated Bobby Riggs, the forces of male chauvinism pre vailed. The 45-year-old Gilpin, who is di rector of public in formation for UNC-A, "/■’-•quick work of the 21-year-old^ Mrs. Frye, 6-1 and 6-0. After the match a tired but happy Gil pin said "If it had gone much longer I don't think I would have lasted," Naturally Mrs. Frye* was disappointed, but Gilpin has promised to grant her a return match—after he's had two or three weeks to recuperate. When informed of her husband's stun ning victory by tele phone, Mrs. Mary Gil pin, dormitory co ordinator, replied, "You're kidding." In the days that have transpired since Gilpin's victory, Mrs. Gilpin has no ticed her husband mo ving in a some what peculiar manner and some what slower than usual. When warned about the possibility of having every female on csunpus wanting a tennis match with him, Gilpin said he wasn't going to play any females except those his own age. "And besides, he replied, how many women are you going to find that will admit to being in their fourties." Over $60m Raised During 1972 Campaign The names of a mem ber of the UNC-A Board of Trustees and a member of the UNC-A Foundation, were on a secret list of contri butors to President Nixon's re-election campaign released last Friday. Claude S. Rcunsey Jr., of 9 Fairway Place, Asheville, who serves as chairman of the UNC-A Founda tion's fund drive, gave $3,000 to the Nixon campaign. Ramsey, former head of American Enka, is now president of Akzona and chairman of the board of di rectors. The other UNC-A con tributor was Maurice H. Winger Jr. of 15 East Forest Road, Asheville. Winger is a member of the UNC-A Board of Trustees, president of American Enka and member of the Akzona executive committee. Nationwide, the committee to re-elect the president raised more than $60,000,000 $56,000,000 of which they spent in the course of the cam paign.
